Make sure that when you spend your savings on a power lift recliner, you know it's going to be worth it. Get the one that your senior or a disabled member of your family really needs. Don't just buy any lift chair without researching and putting much thought into the important details.
If you have pets or small children in your home, it would be advisable to look for a sofa that comes with removable covers that can easily be washed if necessary. If you expect the worse, you can even look for a sofa with replaceable covers and be sure that your sofa will still be usable after many years. Think about buying additional covers together with you sofa to ensure that you will have then over a few years when you really need them (the manufacturer might have decided to discontinue the specific sofa cover you need).
On a regular sofa, one typically sits at a 90 degree angle. This is stiff, rigid, and doesn't promote relaxation. To settle in, you will have to put your feet up on the couch or on the coffee table. The backing of the sofa is not high enough or comfortable enough to cradle your head. Also, a regular sofa will not be comfortable for everyone because of size. A smaller person sitting on a deep couch will feel uncomfortable because their feet will be hanging off the edge if they settle in to relax. A taller person on a small couch will feel awkward, as if they don't have enough space to settle in.
