Ottomans can come in any material, but wood is the most generally preferred by most homemakers. This is because wood is durable and it is also easy to design as far as manufacturers of this type of furniture are concerned. This wood can be any variety, from maple, mahogany, walnut to wicker. If you're planning to place these pieces indoor, wood is a good material to have. Choices of wood ottomans range from hardwood to engineered wood to wood laminates. Hardwood is the most expensive but it is also very durable. Engineered wood is less expensive than hardwood but it is usually more durable because it is designed to withstand natural elements which can cause damage to natural wood. Wood laminates are made to mimic the effect of wood and are less durable, but they are most cost-efficient compared to any other wood type.
As we have already discussed, the ottoman has so many uses, but there is still one more to mention. Some ottomans double as small storage units so that you can put magazines or anything you like inside. Of course they can be used as a seat or foot rest, but they also have the added function of doubling as a storage unit. These ottomans are completely lined inside and perfect for those who don't like to leave books, tissues or other items in the living room.
The storage ottoman is also a great addition to the bedroom and can be use as a hidden laundry basket. It is great to rest your morning coffee or favourite book and best of all it hides of all of your washing in a stylish, neat little unit.
